Hero has decades of experience with refugee work. Our first asylum reception center was established as early as 1987. We have a strong loyalty to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration, and Hero has since the early nineties played an important role in the development of the Norwegian reception system. We established our first center in Sweden in 2014.
Our ambition is to continue our work on keeping public spending low and to provide and strengthen this role both in Norway and also in Sweden.
Since the nineties, residents’ participation has been a core principle in all our centers. This principle is an attitude and a method where we believe that everyone possess important resources, and that everybody can benefit from being given responsibility. We establish cooperation boards where the residents can influence the daily operation the centers and take part in the daily work.
